Upgrading on our most rented headset, the Oculus Rift S removes the need for any external sensors by using five cameras in the headset itself, it increases the resolution, and it improves the comfort. The clear screen, built-in audio (with the option to plug in any standard headphones) and wireless controllers that represent your hands, all work together to really transport you into a different world. And the new longer 5 meter cable going to your PC fees you to further walk around that world.

Going beyond games, you can experience 360 degree videos and VR short films. There's kids films, and films not for kids (a horror where you're the victim!). Or if you feel like a journey, take a kayak adventure though the Grand Canyon, or a trip through our galaxy and beyond.

While Oculus require a Facebook account for purchased headsets, a Facebook account is not required for our rental units.

Using the Rift S is such an amazing experience, you'll likely bring friends and family over for them to check it out, and you'll love seeing their reactions. You may have already seen some of the YouTube videos where people react to the Oculus Rift, but if you haven't, they're well worth checking out, and remember this upgraded headset will feel even more real!

  • 1 x Oculus Rift S Virtual Reality Headset
  • 1 x Glasses Spacer Pre-Installed
  • 1 x 5m cable (from the headset to DisplayPort 1.2 and USB 3.0)
  • 1 x Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort Adapter
  • 2 x Wireless Touch Controllers
  • 1 x VR Cover

We use Courier Post to send the Oculus Rift S to you anywhere in New Zealand, and send you easy to follow instructions on how to set everything up. If you need a gaming desktop PC too, we also rent those.

Included in the package is a prepaid return label, so on the last day of the rental you can drop that off at your local post office, they'll scan it and return it to us. More information can also be seen in our how VR Rentals Work page.

Oculus offer a free download to check your PC's compatibility, this can be downloaded here: PC Check. Due to the complex nature of PC and hardware compatibility however, this should used as a rough guide only and not any type of guarantee that it will work. Also SteamVR Performance Test is free and can be used to benchmark your PC, showing you how well it may run VR.

The Rift S minimum requirements are:

GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 960 / GTX 1050Ti, AMD Radeon R9 290 / RX 470 equivalent or better

CPU: Intel i3-6100 or AMD Ryzen 3 1200 or FX 8350 equivalent or better

RAM: 8 GB or more

Hard Drive: 30 GB or more of free space

Video Output: DisplayPort 1.2 or newer, or Mini DisplayPort

USB Port: 1x USB 3.0 port

Operating System: Windows 10

Extra Requirements: You will need administrator access rights on your PC to use the VR headset. If you're using a work supplied PC, please check with your IT department that you have administrator rights.

As with all camera based tracking systems, the headset relies on detecting edges to track where you are in the room. So a bare room or a dark room wouldn't work well. As with all VR tracking also, direct sunlight can prevent tracking from working correctly.

Aside from the gear we provide, you may need a desktop PC. If you don't have a suitable PC, we also rent those too. You just need a monitor or a TV with an HDMI input (almost any TV in the past 10 years, and most monitors).

Multiple Rift S headsets can be used in one location without any problem from interference.

The Rift S plugs directly into your PC and so don't require any separate power supply.

Aside from the gear we provide, you may need:

Desktop PC: If you don't have a suitable PC, we also rent those. You just need a monitor or a TV with an HDMI input (almost any TV in the past 10 years, and most monitors).

Headphones: While there is built-in audio, in a noisy environment you may want to plug your own headphones / earphones in.
