The Quest Pro can be experienced by renting New Zealand wide. It presents an exciting future for virtual reality by offering both Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality. The Quest Pro has a range of new features compared to the Quest 2, such as eye tracking, facial expression tracking, colour passthrough of the real world, better tracking controllers, much clearer lenses and greatly improved screens for better visuals.
Colour passthrough cameras allow you to see the real world without lifting off the headset, and virtual experiences that use AR can be shown as if they're happening in the room with you.
The incredibly thin new lenses are used to create a slim modern headset and offer a larger view of super sharp visuals. The addition of eye and facial expression tracking along with finger tracking make for far more realistic and social interactions in the virtual world. Each controller now includes cameras and a smartphone level Snapdragon processor inside, which is used track the controllers anywhere. To compare with the Quest 2, those controllers need to be in view of the headset to track.
Being a standalone headset, no PC is required, and with Google Chromecast Ultra included at no extra charge, once setup on your Wi-Fi your TV will show what the headset is displaying for a more social VR experience. The Quest Pro has a built-in battery that lasts an average of 2 to 3 hours and takes approx 2 1/2 hours to fully charge from flat. The headset can also be partially charged then used. The controllers have a battery life of up to about 8 hours.
As with all camera based tracking systems, the headset relies on detecting edges to track where you are in the room. So a bare room or a dark room wouldn't work well. As with all VR tracking also, direct sunlight can prevent tracking from working correctly.
While there is built-in audio and it works very well, in a noisy environment you may want to plug your own headphones / earphones in. Any standard headphones or earphones can plug into the headset if needed.
To use the included Google Chromecast, both the headset and the Chromecast need to be on the exact same Wi-Fi and have a good reception of that Wi-Fi with internet access.
For certain experiences, Wi-Fi internet may be required. This includes streaming video apps, downloading new apps and more. If you need to confirm a specific app will work without Wi-Fi internet, please do feel free to ask us.
In very rare cases, Wi-Fi internet may be briefly needed to login to the headset.
The technical setup is super simple, in that the headset will scan the area for tracking then allow you to draw a boundary where you have empty floor space. If you go out of the boundary, the cameras will show you the real world, so you can stay safe.
If you've got Wi-Fi access, you can also plug in our included Chromecast to a TV, and everyone can see what the headset can see. You can also wirelessly stream what the headset shows to a phone or tablet via a free Oculus app, or to a Chrome browser on PC. To set up Google Chromecast Ultra, you'll need to install a free Google Home app on your phone or tablet. If you already have your own Chromecast, likely you will be able to use your own.
We use Courier Post to send the Meta Quest Pro to you anywhere in New Zealand, and send you easy to follow instructions on how to set everything up.
Included in the package is a prepaid return label, so on the last day of the rental you can drop that off at your local post office, they'll scan it and return it to us. More information can also be seen in our how VR Rentals Work page.
